The Story

This wine made history when it became one of the earliest single-vineyard bottlings of Nebbiolo in Piedmont with the 1967 vintage. Sourced from the GAJA winery's top growing site, San Lorenzo, located just south of the village of Barbaresco in the famed cru Secondine, the wine is made with 95% Nebbiolo grapes and 5% Barbera. Written Notes

Deep, ruby colour with brick red rim. Complex and evolved nose delivers broad range of aromas from toffee, earth, root vegetables, some licorice and touch of smokiness. The medium-bodied palate is restrained in style with high acidity, less expressive fruit and powerful spicy tannins that dominates the palate in long astringent and mouth drying palate. Despite the tannins the wine shows elegance and very silky texture. The wine will deliver its best in eight to ten years.
