The Story

Château Haut-Brion is the oldest and by far the smallest of the "Premiers Grands Crus" vineyards of the Gironde 1855 classification. Château Haut-Brion is one of the few remaining family-owned domains of the Bordeaux region with a history going back to the 16th century. It has been owned by the American Dillon family since 1935.

Written Notes

Dark red. Incredibly intense nose of blackcurrants and raspberries with stunning depth. Plenty of blackcurrants and raspberries on the palate, incredible length and complexity. What a vitality and young touch this wine came up with - brilliant all over the place. I think this wine can keep for additional 6-8 years.

Good looking normal size bottle and has top-shoulder level. Colour is brick red, and looking healthy and deep. On the nose it is open, refined, ripe and rich. The taste is harmonious, with silky tannins, medium-bodied, with balanced structure, mature and the palate is one-dimensional. On the palate it is layered and has mushrooms, port-like, perfumed, blackcurrant, violet and cigar-box flavours. The finish is medium long, gentle and smooth. This wine is a good every wine. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 1-5 years and decant at least 45min before tasting.
