Château Haut-Brion is the oldest and by far the smallest of the "Premiers Grands Crus" vineyards of the Gironde 1855 classification. Château Haut-Brion is one of the few remaining family-owned domains of the Bordeaux region with a history going back to the 16th century. It has been owned by the American Dillon family since 1935.

Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Complex nose with very appealing character. Dark berries, e.g. blackberries, blackcurrants, mulberries complemented by ripe cherries and a whiff of ripe plum. Distinct spiciness, graphite and fine toasting, dark chocolate and a whiff of cocoa powder. On the palate well structured with ripe tannins, refined acidity, very complex taste with graphite, juicy fruit and spiciness again. A great Haut-Brion with tension, excellent length and exceptional elegance although the Merlot plays the dominant role in this wine.
