FOR THE FIRST TIME ON A LABEL – THE RAM

He was awarded the Grand Prix de Rome in 1950 for his technically demanding etchings. In that same year, he was commissioned by Baron Philippe de Rothschild to design a label for Mouton. Vintage 1950

Looking more closely at the decade, attention should also be drawn to the 1950 Bordeaux vintage, which offered more quantity than quality - with a few exceptions. Written Notes

Another perfect-looking bottle. The level was by the neck. Decanted for only 30 minutes. A bright, ruby red colour with relatively little sign of development. At the start the nose was a bit blocked, but after 30 minutes it opened with an intense bouquet of blackcurrant and other black fruits, with hints of vanilla. Round and neat, but maybe not as fleshy and loaded as I remembered. A little too light and short aftertaste. Somewhat lighter and drier than the other two 1950s I had tasted last year. However, it is always a lovely and pleasant experience!
