Tasting note

Written Notes

Top-shoulder. Warm, healthy, classic colour. A bit sharp, mint and sweet nose. Not very round or open. Fully grown, light-bodied wine. Not enough fruit or complexity to keep my attention. Getting lean and hard. Was much healthier 20 years ago. Hint of acidity and herbs at the end. Would still make a very precious present in 2009 for anyone who celebrates his or her 40th birthday that year.

The 1969 Mouton Rothschild was the least of the least, so to speak, the least elegant, the least classic, but with solid richness. It was all about the coffee, completely one dimensional in that regard (83).

Upper shoulder fill. Ruby mid core, orange rim. Light red berries, figs, medicinal nose. Some tobacco far back. Fresh acidity, tannins gone, light and delicate, touch sweet and sour, lean palate and finish. 86
