Climatic conditions
After a cold, dry start to the year, a change in the weather pattern brought higher-than-average temperatures and rainfall from February. Budding took place at the end of March, and the mild weather persisted through April. May and June were very warm, with average rainfall; a number of storms were recorded in May.

Vintage 2000

Weather conditions / The 2000 vintage was proclaimed from the start as one of the best vintages of modern times. In the spring of 2003, I had many opportunities to find out if we really had a true dream vintage on our hands.

During the 2000 harvest, while doing a “personal inspection” in the vineyards, I noticed that something extraordinary was on the way. The grapes looked extremely healthy.

Written Notes

Deep ruby, garnet rim. Surprisingly youthful, almost barrel sample. Wakes up a bit after two hours in decanter, but still one of the youngest 2000's I've tasted in a long time. Some herbs, bell peppers, cassis, scented and youthful. Fresh acidity, almost edgy tannins, some cedar shows up, still a bit tight. Two and a half hour, it starts to open and feels more rounded. Good length and far too young. 90
