Written Notes

This Mouton seemed to be in fair condition. This already slightly brownish red wine had at first a bouquet of an old, diluted cellar, but after 15 minutes in the glass the fustiness was gone and what opened were the shades of coffee, oak and dried fruit. On the palate the wine was light, one-dimensional and modest. This wine had been at its peak decades ago, but was still drinkable.

The 1972 Mouton Rothschild had a musky, nutty nose that I liked. There was citrus on its palate to go with its tangy flavors and touch of tomato. It was open and ‘horseradishy’ (88).
