Bottle was in excellent condition, level was by the neck. This wine has developed quite well for a lesser vintage. Good, dark, mature colour Open, lovely spicy Cabernet nose. Sweet and light wine with good balance. Not as complex and elegant as 1966, and after 30 minutes it started to fade and dry out. Nothing special here, but it is an honest wine at a fair price.

Hamburger purred about the ‘mocha and milk chocolate’ in the 1967 Mouton Rothschild. There was big-time cocoa for sure. Its palate was rich, tasty and long with grit, definition and depth. There were flavors of earth, tobacco and powdered sugar along with creamy bakery goodness. Someone noted, ‘hazelnut,’ and Ed found it the best wine of the flight ‘by far’ (93).

Only slightly above mid shoulder fill, ruby with orange rim, fantastic nose, leather, figs, blackcurrants, classic mature Pauillac on the lean side, floral and violets, licorice and tobacco after twenty minutes. Good acidity, ripe tannins, drying out on the palate, not that long and strawberries in the finish. After an hour, more body and intensity, after three hours even more and a very long length. 89

"Medium to medium-full colour. Mature but not unduly so. The nose is beginning to lighten up a little but there is good depth and class underneath nevertheless. Medium body, soft, fragrant. Attractive fruit. Good acidity. Never a wine of great concentration, and without the breed of Latour 1967, but definitely a success.
