Château Margaux

It was 1977, and young, 24-year-old Corinne Mentzelopoulos was very impressed as she stepped out to the bright white stairway of the palace that was built in the 19th century. Written Notes

Garnet colour with brick red hue. Roasted aroma with hints of peppers in the background. Fine spices and hints of ripe fruit, very elegant and persistent. On the palate fine hints of fruit, elegant spiciness, graphite and slightly smoky character in the finish. Excellent with great length.

Moderately intense brick red colour. Lively and complex nose with roasted coffee, some mushrooms and nougat. Medium-bodied refined and elegant palate with smooth texture and lingering finish. – JL 97+p. (Aug 2023)

Estate bottled. Fill level mid-shoulder. Recorked at estate in 1962. Cloudy, medium deep, brownish colour. Medium strong, unflirtatious nose – mushrooms and moist undergrowth. Fairly abundant acids, lightish structure and mild tannins are well balanced and make the wine very feminine. Somewhat too fine-tuned for a first-growth wine, but still in good condition.
