Wine Information

The quality of this wine, from a rather small harvest, has long been judged as just average. The most recent bottle opened in 2011 however was quite surprising. The wine was a pretty color. Written Notes

This wine presents with a deep garnet hue, reflecting its considerable age with a slight tawny rim.

Aromas of dried black fruits, such as prune and fig, mingle with hints of tobacco, leather, and a whisper of cedar. Subtle floral notes of dried roses add a touch of elegance to the bouquet.

Medium-bodied, the palate offers flavors of stewed dark fruits layered with earthy nuances and a hint of spice. The tannins have softened over time, contributing to a smooth and velvety texture.

The finish is medium long, with echoes of dried fruit and a subtle herbal quality, leaving a graceful and refined impression.

The 1917 Chateau Margaux is a wine of considerable historical significance, reflecting the era of Finland's independence. While it may lack the vibrancy of younger vintages, it offers a mature and nuanced tasting experience that speaks to the longevity and enduring quality of Chateau Margaux. Ideal for those seeking a unique piece of wine history and history of Finland to savor and appreciate.

Quite a small harvest, Château Margaux 1917 displays a very good youthful colour. The bouquet is complex and deep, the palate is powerful, very pleasant, with a great deal of body. The finish is long, although slightly tannic.
