Weather
The weather was unsettled for the whole year. Hot weather and dry conditions never really set in, except for a ten-day spell in September, when it was very hot. The harvest began relatively late in difficult conditions with frequent rain showers. Fortunately, the weather was cold, which prevented any rot from developing. (The picking began 5th October)

Written Notes

The 1987 Chateau Margaux presents a mature garnet color with noticeable brick hues, indicating its age.

The bouquet is complex, offering aromas of stewed red fruits like cherries and red currants, alongside tertiary notes of leather, dried flowers, and a hint of earthy forest floor. Subtle traces of cigar box and vanilla from oak aging add depth.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with softened, integrated tannins, and flavors that mirror the nose—dried fruit and earthy elements dominate, supported by a still-present acidity that brings balance and a touch of freshness.

The finish is moderately long, with a lingering taste of dried fruit and a hint of spice, providing a decent conclusion to the tasting.

From a 0.75 lt. bottle, medium ruby colour, no watery rim.Fine bouquet of dark fruits,

earthy, tobacco. Light bodied , but not thin, still tannin and acidity, well balanced,

will keep another ten years +, medium finish. very good wine for the poor 1987 vintage.
