The Story

The production of a second wine probably goes back to the beginning of the XVII century because it is inseparable from the search for excellence which started at that time. Sold under the name of “Château Margaux 2nd wine”, it took its permanent name of Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux in 1908. Wine Information

Such a sudden attack of Botrytis, a few days before the start of the harvest, hasn’t been seen for a long time. Written Notes

2013 Pavillon Rouge (barrel sample) 88p

Tasted twice - last time in April 2014. Consistent notes. This wine, (84% C.Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 4% P.Verdot and 2% C.Franc) showed light texture, soft fruit with catchy sweetness and ripe tannin. Fine balance and soft fruity aftertaste.

  • 88p

Deep purple red with violet hue and almost black centre. Very elegant nose with floral notes, very fine fruit, mild spices in the background. On the palate medium weight but convincing length, elegant and persistant, hints of liquorice, florale notes.
