The Story

Since the 17th Century, the first wine of Château Margaux has been recognised as being one of the greatest wines in the entire world. It owes its unique qualities to the genius of its terroir as well as to the passionate work of a succession of generations. It’s a remarkable wine that comes from a combination of characteristics that are only rarely found: finesse, elegance, complexity, density, intensity, length and freshness. Although its tan...

Wine Information

The very low percentage of Merlot in the blend, and the hard-won ripening of the Cabernet Sauvignon, gave this vintage from the outset a certain austerity and a characteristic firmness in the finish. Written Notes

The 1984 Chateau Margaux displays a medium garnet color with some lightening at the rim, indicative of its age.

The nose offers an intriguing blend of tertiary aromas, including dried figs, leather, and a hint of tobacco, complemented by subtle notes of dried herbs and a whisper of cedar from its time in oak.

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with a silky texture and matured tannins that provide a smooth mouthfeel. Flavors of stewed red berries and plums are evident, along with secondary notes of mushroom and earth, reflecting its development over the years.

The finish is quite short, but with a pleasant persistence of earthy and leathery notes, concluding with a touch of spice.
