The Story

Well-cared for vines, strictly controlled yields and as late as possible harvest produces an aromatic and opulent wine. Deeply coloured, La Tâche develops a palate of extraordinary aromas of dark fruits, truffle and spices.

Rich and concentrated, its bouquet releases infinite tones that melt in the mouth to form a lovely ensemble – always exceptional, even in the difficult vintages. Hence in 1950 and 1951, it was the only wine in the domain...

Vintage 1995

A small crop of high quality for long ageing. As in 1985, the acidity in the white wines is hidden behind the ripe fruit.

An early frost and cool June weather severely reduced the size of the 1995 crop. Written Notes

Mason Perry’s 1995 DRC La Tache entered on cue, or on clue. It had clean and lean fruit and a delicate nose. This was a fresh and smooth 1995 that was light, elegant and beautiful and far from the rusty nails that many wines from this vintage can be (94).
  • 94p

Pale to medium ruby with a touch of brick. The La Tache gives very little on the nose to begin with but soon blossoms into the most incredible cherry compote, black truffle, cloves, loam, saucisson and tobacco leaf aromas. The palate shows exemplary structure and concentration, seamlessly knitting very crisp acidity with a firm level of very finely grained tannins and layer upon layer of complex fruit, mineral and game flavours. Very long finish. This wine has many great years left and will generously reward the patient
