The Story

Richebourg is a king of a wine: the colonnade of the Louvre, the Château of Versailles. You are impressed by its finesse, its length and its delicate sensations, endlessly changing. Vintage 1934

Classic and rich wines. The best are always good.

Ideal growing season, with warm spring weather without major problems, followed by a long hot summer with some rainy periods at the right times.A very good quality abundant harvest which, if it had been done with our current knowledge of thinning and temperature controlled fermentation, would have been excellent.

It was all of the above, and it was a bottle I have never seen before and probably never will again. It was a 1934 DRC Richebourg Vieux Cepages, an old-vine Richebourg that DRC made one barrel of in certain vintages between 1911 and 1937. Flavor Flav used to say ‘bring that beat back!’ Aubert, bring that wine back! What a thrill
