Dom Pérignon Rosé is a tribute to Pinot Noir. To work with Pinot Noir continually requires excellence and humility. In that regard, Dom Pérignon Rosé is a paradox to the point of contradiction as it is the perfect balance of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Although it took over ten years to reach the light of day, the color of Dom Pérignon Rosé dares to express all the tension between youth and maturity, between exhibition and restraint.

Dom Pérignon Rosé 1971 is an even rarer, more mythical collector's item than the 1973 vintage. As one of the earliest rosé releases in the history of the house, its average market price for a standard 750 ml bottle currently ranges between $2,100 and $2,700, though pristine bottles can fetch significantly more at auction.

A magnum of 1971 Dom Perignon Rose continued our palate cleanse with its ‘strawberry sundae with caramel and apples,’ per Hollywood Jef. It had a curds n’ whey palate and was super zippy, but a bit sharp as well. I fluctuated between 95 and 96 points, but the old Roses always get a little dirty for me, keeping it at (95M).
What can one say? Certain vintages of this precious commodity are simply fantastic. The color has the same deep red appearance. The mousse bubbles up in a sensational way. The entire wine exudes seriousness and sumptuous vinosity. This has everything required of a really big red Burgundy. The spice, the coffee aromas, the smokiness, and the massive vegetal tones in the fruit call to mind red beets the aftertaste is reminiscent of the finest bitter chocolate. All of this is an unusually clear expression of first-class Pinot Noir.
