Written Notes

A warm, generous, and notoriously sun-kissed expression, the 2009 Grand Vintage highlights Pinot Noir dominance (50% Pinot Noir, 36% Chardonnay, 14% Meunier) to deliver a rich, broad-shouldered Champagne with remarkable charm. The nose is voluptuous and deeply aromatic, opening with baked yellow apple, poached peach, and dried mango, moving quickly into indulgent autolytic notes of frangipane, toasted brioche, honeyed nuts, and a touch of sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is supple, expansive, and mouth-coating, featuring a soft, velvety mousse and a plush core of stone fruits and lemon curd. While low in overall acidity due to the warm vintage conditions, a well-placed citrus-pith bitterness and a gentle chalky undertone keep the wine balanced, leading into a long, satisfying finish marked by toasted almond and warm pastry.
