The Story

Dom Pérignon Rosé is a tribute to Pinot Noir. To work with Pinot Noir continually requires excellence and humility. In that regard, Dom Pérignon Rosé is a paradox to the point of contradiction as it is the perfect balance of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Although it took over ten years to reach the light of day, the color of Dom Pérignon Rosé dares to express all the tension between youth and maturity, between exhibition and restraint.

DOM PÉRIGNON
ROSÉ 1966

THE HARVEST
Harvesting began on 22 September under good conditions, with perfectly healthy grapes.

TASTING NOTES
A very elegant and light vintage compared to the 1962 and the 1971. A legendary vintage arousing euphoria, with its hints of meringue, tea and roses combined with a fleshy pinot flavour, mature, redolent of a bourgogne. A real winning champagne.

Richard Juhlin, “4000 champagnes”

Written Notes

A super-elegant and light vintage in comparison with the '62 and the '71. Fabulous and euphoria-inducing with nuances of meringue, tea, and roses, together with the rich, mature, Burgundy-like Pinot aroma. A true winner of a Champagne.

All the six bottles were in good condition with perfect levels. A developed orange-hued deep golden colour. Elegant light effervescence left in the wine. Rich and pronounced nose of toast, mushrooms and honey. Marked acidity on the palate. Fruitiness remains high enough to balance it. However, slight drying of the wine is evident. Full and round wine with a long toasty finish. Drinking very well now but declining slowly.

This had an absolutely delicious, honeyed nose. It was very chocolaty for a Rose, also possessing both strawberry and honey aromas and flavors. The palate was big and earthy with tasty wood components yet a soft finish; its acidity was noticeable in the belly but not spicy or 'kick'-y going down. Rob exclaimed that there were still 'years of life left,' and there were due to its subtle, lingering acidity. A touch of Cuban cigar rounded out the palate
