At the end of the 17th Century, Dom Pierre Pérignon stated his ambition to create ‘the best wine in the world’. On 29 September 1694, Dom Pierre Pérignon wrote that his mission was to create “the best wine in the world.” He dedicated himself to improving viticulture techniques, perfecting the art blending grapes from different crus, and introduced the gentle and fractional pressing to obtain white wine from black grapes.Ever since, the House...

One of the decade’s best vintages, which can be excellently enjoyed already now. The winter was cold and the spring cool. The cold weather moved the start of the growth season and enabled the vines to avoid spring frosts. The inflorescences, which bloomed in June, enjoyed perfect conditions. The warm and sunny weather continued through summer all the way until early September, when refreshing and needed rains arrived in the area. They saved th...

Tasted a score of times since May 1988, this wine is easy to identify at blind tastings. It was developed relatively slowly and has an even quality from bottle to bottle. The complex nose has a perfect balance between the Pinot and the Chardonnay. Exhaust fumes, mushroom cream, orchid, and orange are some of the most obvious aromas in this medium-bodied Champagne. Time have been kind to this beauty.
Dom Pérignon is reputedly a wine that requires time to show its greatness. This 1982 was a great example of this and the potential of Dom Pérignon. This ripe however firm structured vintage produced a spectacular DP, which is only starting to open up. Developed crystal clear golden colour. Developing, creamy and tropical nose of nuts, honey and creamy toastiness. Ripe pronounced palate with tightly knit fruitiness and charming minerality. Stylishly steely and linear acidity promising a great future. Creamy and silky texture with great length and finesse. All the pieces are there for this great Dom Pérignon. Give it a decade more and it will excel.
A mature Champagne, this shows as much toast and cookie character as fruit, making it soft, ripe and delicious. The fruit moves toward tropical, with pineapple and peach flavors.
When Dom ages well, it becomes a generous, Montrachet-like white wine in its depth and complexity, with just a sparkling edge. Gorgeous, honeyed, biscuity beauty with a fairly long finish.
1982 Dom Perignon: Very nice nose of vanilla cake and lemon, followed by a big presence on the palate- mouth-filling, mature with yeasty bread, toast and a lychee note lingering into a long finish that is dominated by very pleasant and lively lemon creme. Very special stuff! This was surprisingly “big” for Dom, but perhaps the aging allowed the wine to evolve in this way. A fantastic start. We aren’t comparing bubbly, but I don’t think I’ve tasted any better. I’d give this a perfect score.
Golden, amber hue, tiny bubbles. Flint, minerals, lemon and apples, fresh and lively feel to it even if evolved aromas like nuts are appearing. Fresh acidity and creamy mousse, smoky caramel finish, giving Ilay assosiations. 94
Good looking normal size bottle, is in a perfect condition and has by the neck level. Colour is amber, and looking clear and medium. On the nose it is open, intense and complex. The taste is fresh, fruity, and dry, low alcohol content, and high in acidity, medium-bodied, with perfectly balanced, good texture structure and mature. On the palate it is layered and has apricot, bread, buttery, citrus, coffee, floral, mineral, mushrooms, perfumed and white fruits flavours. The finish is endless. This wine is excellent. I paid around 200-500€ a bottle. Perfectly stored bottles are still very worthy and will last well for another 5-10€ years, decant at least 5min before tasting and not a good invest wine. Good value for money. I do recommend.
